Placenticeras sp.Placenticeras sp. Beautiful ammonite with spectacular candy-apple red and lime-green iridescent colorization. Specimen measures 9 1/2" across and 2 1/2" thick. It also contains an EXTREMELY RARE occurrence of several puncture holes, most likely created by the massive teeth of a large mosasaur, as they were known to feed on these large ammonites. Bite marks cover an area approximately 3" x 3" and are very well defined. Two of the puncture holes show crushing around the perimeter of the hole. This spectacular ammonite not only has amazing color, it tells a story of predator and prey in the prehistoric ocean. Reproduction mosasaur jaw (as shown in photo) is included with purchase. Great VALUE at well under $10K!! Stock #4047 |
