Eucapsiphora leakensis – Stromatolite colonies, exposed in this vertical slice, 6” wide, 5” tall, 5/8” thick. This slice has been polished with a glass-like finish and reveals the classic formation of these well-defined colonies. Interesting sand-filled voids between the cones are exposed. The top edge exhibits the preserved tops of the colonies. The environment that these stromatolites lived in was most likely a sandy tidal flat or braided river channel.
